I got some very positive feedback from a student at work today. At the end of the day, one of my male students told me that he appreciated me. When I asked him why, he responded that he appreciates my pushing him to do his best instead of letting his smile get him by. He said in the past he would smile and his teachers would lighten up on him. He does have a great smile, but I told him that I have two little kids at home with those same great smiles. It's not gonna work on me. Wow, three weeks in and all this positive student feedback! I'm excited.
On another note, I went to the dentist today. I've never ever had a cavity before, but my dentist found three. Dang! That didn't stop me from eating my peanut m & m's though. Oh well.

Teacher Moment
It's not everyday that a student (especially a middle school student) appreciates a teacher. So, I have to share the rewards I received today. One of my sometimes annoying students paid me a compliment at the end of class this morning. He said, "You're a good teacher because you make me like English again." Awww! In my next class, a student commented, "I like this class." Wow! I am not laboring in vain. Who says learning isn't fun? Thank you, God!

Congratulations to my love ♥
I just want to publicly thank God for the wonderful thing that he did for my sweetheart today. After numerous interviews and no's, Rodney was offered a job that is in line with his long-term goals. He has definitely exemplified diligence and perseverance. He was often disappointed, but he kept on pushing. He is beginning to see the fruits of his labor. I am so proud of him and proud to be his wife. He is so deserving.

Lights ON
Yesterday was day 6 without lights due to Hurricane Irene. I think the first few days were sort of adventurous. But as the days passed and adjacent neighborhoods had power restored, the dark and heat began to take a toil on me. The lights went out on Saturday, I believe. On Tuesday, I returned to work. Those cold showers began to get old. Getting dressed by candlelight and flashlight wasn't all that great either. I wore hats to work each and every day. On Wednesday, I took my blow dryer to work and blowed out my hair right in my classroom. On Thursday, we had Orientation for students and parents. So, I took my flat iron to straighten my hair and my clothes iron and ironing board from college (thank goodness I didn't donate it to Union Mission as planned) and ironed my clothes. My mom cooked on the grill the first few days (even during the hurricane).
The food was delicious, but we soon grew tired of this too. We put our food from the freezer in coolers. Presently, I am afraid to eat anything that requires cold and I am not enthused about going to the grocery store. We will probably throw out everything we had. For some reason, the satellite is not working. I don't really care though. What's one more day without t.v.? I like the quiet. Well, I was so busy posting on tumblr that I forgot everything that I wanted to say. Just glad to be able to flip a switch and have something magical happen.
