Career Conference

I am back from Career Conference 2010!  I had a great time.  I was so excited to see my sister consultants and friends that I hadn't seen in months.  The sessions provided a wealth of information and I am determined to reach my goals.

Like every year, the free products are awesome.  Mary Kay has a toning lotion for your entire body that glides on smoothly and smells great.  The company also created a hand and decollete cream with sunscreen SPF 15.  Now, your hands and neckline can look just as wonderful as your face.

Seminar is THE event to close out this fiscal year.  I have never flown anywhere before, but I am making my way to Dallas to be a part of the excitement!  Look for me to be in my Red jacket and driving a Mary Kay car!

My smartphone is stupid!

Is it me?  Why won't my Palm smartphone send messages to numbers that aren't telephone numbers?  Every time I attempt to do so I get an error message about the shortcode expiring.

I guess it's not that big of a deal except I'm missing out on my free codes from Redbox and I can't enter any of those sweepstakes that require you to send a message to a shortcode.  I can't tweet via sms and I can't blog using my cell phone either, not that I really want to, but it should still be my choice.

When I had a basic phone, I don't remember having this problem.  Is it my phone or my Sprint service provider?  I have never contacted Sprint about this.  Maybe I should.

Is anyone else having this problem?  Give me some insight.  I love the other features of my phone.  I'm definitely not going to downgrade.  Perhaps I will try to send a message one day and the problem will have vanished.  In the meantime, I'll just pay for my Redbox rentals and do all of my online communicating via my computer.

6 Phases of Teaching

I am not the author of the "6 Phases of Teaching", but I can identify with each phase.  I received this as a forward in my e-mail.  This is so hilarious that I must share it with as many as I can.  Enjoy!

6 Phases of Teaching

Phase 1

You are listening to jazz --
Your first day at work is great. Your fellow teachers are wonderful, your classroom is cute, you love your students, and your principal is the best!

Phase 2

You are listening to pop music --
After a while you are so busy that you are not sure if you're coming or going anymore.

Phase 3

You are listening to heavy metal --
This is what you feel like after ONE month.

Phase 4

You are listening to hip hop --
You become bloated due to stress, you're gaining weight due to lack of exercise because you are so tired and have so much school work to do and, when you do get home, you feel sluggish and suffer from constipation. Your fellow teachers are too cheerful for your liking and the walls of your classroom are closing in. You have started thinking 'WHATEVER' about your principal.

Phase 5

You are listening to GANGSTA RAP --
After more time passes, your eyes start to twitch and you forget what a 'good hair day' feels like as you just fall out of bed and load up on caffeine.

Phase 6

You are listening to the voices in your head -- You have locked your classroom door to keep people out.  You wonder WHY you are even here in the first place and WHY you became a teacher!

PASS THIS ON TO FELLOW TEACHERS WHO NEED A GOOD LAUGH.
